The Importance of the Hanford Concerns Council

GAP has expressed approval of the improvements made by the Hanford Concerns Council, which mediates discussions of medical and safety concerns of Hanford workers. The council was formed two years ago after GAP criticized DOE contractor CH2M Hill for not protecting workers from exposure to dangerous chemicals at the nuclear site. GAP employees serve as members of the Hanford Concerns Council.

The council has led to a dramatic change in the way that CH2M Hill handles safety issues at Hanford, and disputes can now often be resolved in a matter of months as opposed to the years that it takes to resolve such issues in court.
